Friday, October 2nd, 2026
Out of a desire to give high school students a broader understanding of what a future in the arts can look like, Rachel Mohl (Executive Director and Chief Curator of Public Art for the University of Houston Systems (Public Art UHS) and I joined forces to create an opportunity during the Untitled Art Fair.
Public Art of the University of Houston System and Untitled Art, Houston partnered to introduce high school A.P. Art students to the art ecosystem and the range of careers within it. Through visits to the university campus and the art fair, students from two schools explored how artists, curators, galleries, and institutions work together, gaining insight into professional pathways in the arts.
As the patron for this initiative, the most meaningful part was giving young people access to a world and possibilities that they may not have previously known were open to them as artists. I look forward to not only sponsoring this program in 2027, but also being a council member on the Public Art UHS Advisory Council and advocating for the K-12 art tour program at the University of Houston for the 2026-2027 year.
Location: University of Houston and Unititled Art at George R. Brown
